Somewhere within the office block that houses our county?s social services, there is a hefty file on me and my family. It contains more than anybody could possibly want to know about me, my childhood, my experiences as a parent, my sexuality, my beliefs, my fears.
It was compiled over a period of months during an intrusive process that included one-to-one interviews, each one lasting several hours, with me, my wife and my children. Our closest friends were also questioned, and our financial records scrutinised.
