That's a brown recluse above. I'm not sure if what you have is. Better safe than sorry. Take a flammable spray of some sort and a lighter to it. Spiders can be killed with fire pretty easy. Only way we could tell you for sure is if you got a straight shot of the body. I know there is a spider similar in looks to the brown recluse and it isn't venomous. The brown recluse is not native to Florida, but they have been found sometimes in Florida, got there by other means. __________________-Joe Autoholic and love it. I can't really see the torso too clearly but it looks like a plain old fishing spider to me....

The best way to know if it is a brown reclouse is if it has a violin shaped mark on it's back (like in motor heads picture). They are out there, but very rare, and about 90% of their bites are harmless according to a recent documentary on TV.

I cannot intentionally kill a spider. Every time I did kill one as a kid, something bad happened to me. When I let them be......nothing bad happens. By bad I mean kill a spider and 5 minutes later I stub my toe or something stupid like that. |

Ha. that is funny. My wife Kathy won't kill a bug either. She just picks it up and takes it outside....When I see one it is instant death to the creature. Then I have nightmares about them and I wake up swinging my arms around trying to kill an invisible bug....My wife just laughs at me. Did I mention I hate spiders.....blechhhhh.

I kill bugs all the time but spiders are not bugs and like Cory, I relocate them if need be. I have a large black widow living in the FFR garage next to the scrap aluminum. We have a deal. I don't poke at her and she don't bite me. Your spider does resemble a BR but they only get about 1.5" across. I think the size rules yours out. Get a closer pic so we can get a better look at the fiddle on it's back Greg __________________FFR4373 MK3, nondonor, DIY options, mods, paint, PS&PB/discs, ABS, AC/heat, 3-link, FMS302-E, Holley 570, Air Gap, 4X4 exhaust Picture of the month August 07 A chronology of my build with hundreds of Hi-res pics each with descriptions and many with tips My other car is a Triumph TR-6: Original 1972 unmolested survivor I have the blues! |
